Bandaranaike International Airport is a civil-military airport located about 30 kilometers north of Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is owned by Sri Lankan government and operated by the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited, which provides aviation services for Colombo. It is the hub airport for Sri Lanka National Airlines and the country's first international airport. Every year, 9 million passengers are received, and the runway has been built for more than 30 years, exceeding the designed service life.
The runway of Bandaranaike International Airport is the 4E+ runway with the highest grade in South Asia. It has a full LED AGL lighting system, which can take off and land the giant A380 airliner, and is suitable for flights in various weather conditions.
Beijing Jinghangan Airport Engineering Co. Ltd. undertook the AGL lighting project of the airport. The construction duration was of 12 months, from January 2017 to December 2017.
